A brutal murder which took place the height of the Troubles in Northern Ireland is to be the focus of FIVE MINUTES OF HEAVEN, a new film to be directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel
Liam Neeson and James Nesbitt will star in the film, which focuses on the murder of Jim Griffin.
Griffin, who was just 19 years of age at the time, was shot dead while at home by a young member of the Ulster Volunteer Force in October 1975.
According to writer Guy Hibbert, the first part of the film being is "an accurate, dramatised reconstruction" of the events surrounding the incident.
Speaking to the Lurgan Mail, he said: "The action of the remainder of the film, set in the present day, is fiction but based on their emotional response to the fictional situations their characters have been placed in, following close liaison with both men."
Neeson also starred in another political drama MICHAEL COLLINS in 1996.
